Global ecommerce and on-line payments leader eBay has reported a 6% revenue rise in the second quarter of the year to $2.2 billion, compared to the same period last year. The company stated that eBay business was growing in Europe, steady in Asia, but slower than expected in the US.

The company’s PayPal business delivered record second quarter performance. PayPal added a million new accounts each month during the quarter.

John Donahoe, eBay President and CEO is reported as saying: “We delivered strong second quarter results, demonstrating the global strength and increasing diversity of our business.
eBay has launched a new social media seller programme that will recognise the sellers who most use Twitter and Facebook.

It’s called the eBay Ink Social Media Seller programme and while still in its infancy the scheme looks like being good news for the most dedicated eBay sellers.

Basically, the sellers who use social media the most to augment their presence on-line will be identified and recognised with special badges – thus gaining greater presence on-line and wider publicity to a greater potential customer base.

While only a handful of eBay sellers have so far been awarded an eBay Ink badge it’s likely that this scheme will be fast-growing.

As all business owners know it can sometimes take only a small increase in publicity to pay huge dividends in terms of new customers.

WebCreationUK can help you spice up your Twitter or Facebook page with one of our social media packages, come speak to us for more!

It’s predicted that more fashion e-ratailers will want to be part of eBay’s new Fashion Outlet section as the UK’s leading e-commerce site launches a multi-channel campaign. The plan is to highlight big name fashion brands and also a range of headline discounts.

eBay boasts more than 17 million visitors per month and eBay-co.uk is the premier e-commerce site and clothing destination in the UK. Its new campaign will have the strapline: “The clothes you love, direct from the brands you love”.

So the chances are that many more stores will want to join the likes of Kookai, House of Fraser and Office, on the fast-growing e-retail platform. Advantages include access to eBay’s already massive customer-base as well as the benefits of a major advertising campaign.
