Companies advised to go global on-line

Jodi

One of the great assets of being on-line is that there are few geographical boundaries. Customers can be located anywhere in the world, so long as you can guarantee delivery to them.

Globally, ecommerce is expanding as fast as any industry due to the growing availability of web access and confidence in on-line sales. A recent study by Forrester Research estimated that ecommerce will grow to be worth £162 billion annually by 2015.

But some retailers may be hesitant about doing business globally. Concerns include shipping and being paid. But according to the experts the benefits of selling globally far outweigh the challenges.

One key aspect to think about when targeting a more global market is to do some research into different countries. Find out what products might be of interest to certain countries. This will enable you to advertise effectively in other parts of the world – and hopefully to expand your sales.

WebCreationUK has a wealth of experience in designing ecommerce websites. Take a look at their extensive portfolio.

Aussie e retail market still set to boom

Jodi

A new report has found that Australia’s consumer eCommerce market is lagging behind both the US and UK markets by around three years.

According to eCommerce analysis e-retail consumer spending in Australia in 2010 is expected to add up to 5% of total retail sales. Excluding online services, such as on-line ticketing and events, travel, music downloads and financial services, the forecast is 12 billion Australian dollars for the year.

Meanwhile, e-retail consumer spending as a percentage of total retail spend (domestic only) is above 5% in both the US and UK.

However, analysts estimated that growth in on-line spend in Australia is set to grow by 10.2% over the next four years.

A spokesperson said: “The number of Australian shoppers using international retail sites confirms that there is a large untapped potential for Australian retailers to develop a local on-line customer base. However, we are unlikely to see major growth in this sector until more of the big name retailers get online.
